Three schools led by defending champions Rusea’s High chalked up win number six on the trot as the return round of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition got underway on Wednesday.

Rusea’s High worked hard for a 2-0 win over Green Island High in Zone B, Cornwall edged Green Pond High 2-1 in Zone A while Garvey Maceo beat Denbigh High 3-0 in Zone M.

Playing on a muddy field after heavy afternoon showers, Rusea’s High got off to a fast start but failed to capitalise on their chances but scored late in the game to secure the full points.
Lenroy Anderson capitalized on an unsettled Green Island defense to put his team in the lead inside the first 10 minutes while Bobby Brown scored late in the second half as Rusea’s High won 2-0 win.

The win snapped Green Island’s three games winning run since they lost to Rusea’s High in the opening match and Anderson’s eighth-minute goal also snapped their run of 292 minutes since they had conceded a goal, also against Rusea’s High in their 4-0 first round loss.

In Montego Bay, Aiden Jokomba and Solano Birch scored for Cornwall College in the second half as they held off Green Pond High 2-1 for their seventh straight win over Green Pond who slipped to third place in the zone.
Cornwall College had won the first round game 2-0.

Tyreke Henry scored twice but missed a penalty that would complete his hat-trick whole Anjay Gayle scored his fifth goal of the season Garvey Maceo cruised by Denbigh High 3-0 in their game, the same score they had won in the first round.
