Four former champions are the first qualifiers for the Inter-one round of the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup football competition.

Glenmuir High were the first on Wednesday from Zone M and were followed a day later by Cornwall College and St James High from Zone A and Rusea’s High from Zone B.

Glenmuir’s 5-0 thrashing of Porus pushed them to 10 points and assured them of at least second place in the zone with two games to go.

On Thursday, Cornwall College eliminated Green Pond from automatic qualification, beating them 5-0 at Green Pond to stay atop Zone A with 11 points and secured their place in the next round.

After drawing two straight games, Cornwall has responded with two big wins after beating Irwin High 6-0 on Tuesday and sets up a big clash with St James on Saturday where the winner will won the zone. St James High dispatched winless Irwin High 3-0 at Irwin to also ensure safe passage with 10 points.

Rusea’s High shook off the news earlier they had lost the 11-1 score line against Cambridge who withdrew by beating Green Island High 3-0 for their fourth straight win and wrapped up their place in the Inter-zone round.

Dushane Beckford scored twice for Rusea’s in their biggest win of the season so far Rusea’s are on 12 points and are yet to concede their first goal of the season.
