FROME, Westmoreland — Clashes involving teams that have won their first three games will highlight today's round of matches in the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition.

Two-time defending champions Rusea's High will meet Frome Technical at Frome in Zone B, Bog Walk High and former winners Dinthill Technical clash in Zone K, while perennial rivals Garvey Maceo and Glenmuir High, both former champions, will cross swords in Zone M.

Additionally, in Santa Cruz, two of the oldest schoolboy rivals — St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and Munro College — will lock horns in a Zone E game.

STETHS is one of seven schools who have so far won all three games and are the leaders, while Munro lead a trio of schools on six points, having lost to Black River.

As if the match needed anymore spice, Andrew Edwards, who coached STETHS to the daCosta Cup in 2009 and the last two Ben Francis KO titles, left after last season to take over at Munro. Edwards will need all his skills and knowledge of the STETHS team to avoid a second loss so early in the season as he will come up against a team that is full of confidence, having drubbed Balaclava 10-0 on Wednesday.

At Frome, Rusea's have not lost to Frome in their last eight meetings in Zone B over the last four years and Frome's last win came at home in the first round of the 2007 season.

Both teams are off to solid starts but Frome hold the slightest of margins leading on goals scored as both teams are tied on nine points and goal difference of plus eight, but Rusea's are yet to concede a goal after 270 minutes of football.

Tevin Williams has scored in all three games so far for Frome, while former National Under-17 striker Anthony Walker has scored in the last two for Rusea's to join Demar Dohman on two goals each. In Zone M, Garvey Maceo have failed to beat Glenmuir in the last three meetings and will have home field advantage today.

Glenmuir won both games against Garvey Maceo last year and are coming off a 5-1 thrashing of Denbigh on Wednesday when Xhane Reid scored four times.

In Zone K, Bog Walk who won just two games over their last two seasons, are off to a fast start with three wins, will meet perennial zone bullies Dinthill and are separated by goal difference. Dinthill Technical have scored at least five goals in two of their three outings and have won five of their last six games against Bog Walk and will hope to continue with their dominance today. Romar Giddersingh has scored four goals so far for Dinthill and will lead their attack this afternoon as they seek to add to the 14 goals they have scored so far.

Meanwhile, Spalding High will also take a three-game winning run into their Zone G game against winless Knox College, while four schools — Spot Valley High, Manchester High, Clarendon College and Port Antonio High — will all hope for a third win today.
