First-time quarter-finalists Anchovy High and McGrath High created school histories by winning their first-ever games in the third round of the ISSA/Wata DaCosta Cup football competition on Tuesday.

Anchovy edged Cedric Titus High 1-0 at Jarrett Park while McGrath who knocked out former champions Rusea’s High last weekend, had the same score over Happy Grove at Dinthill Technical.

High riding Manchester High and St Elizabeth Technical were however off to slow starts, held scoreless in their games against Maggotty High and BB Coke respectively, both results coming against the form books.

Manchester High and STETHS were coming off big second round wins as they combined to score more than 20 goals over the two games. At Jarrett Park, Mark Smith’s 11 th minute goal was enough for Anchovy High to beat Cedric Titus.

McGrath High also celebrated their first time in the third round with a 1-0 win over Happy Grove, Tyrese Wright scoring the winner.

Meanwhile, former champions Cornwall College and Dinthill Technical also scored 1-0 wins over Garvey Maceo and Port Antonio High respectively.

Cornwall College snapped Garvey Maceo’s unbeaten run for the second time with a win at Juici Park while Dinthill Technical continued their late run edging Port Antonio High at Dinthill Technical in Linstead.
