William Knibb vs Cedric Titus game action

Saturday’s final day of the regular season of the ISSA/Wata DaCosta Cup is setting up to be tense with 14 of the 32 spots in the second round still to be decided.

Five schools just missed advancing to the second round on Wednesday where only 12 time champions Cornwall College made progress from Zone A.

William Knibb Memorial in Zone C, Petersfield High in Zone D, Browns Town and Oracabessa in Zone I and Paul Bogle in Zone O will all have to wait for at least one more game to get into the second round.

Three points separates four teams in Zone C after William Knibb Memorial and Cedric Titus played out a 2-2 draw in Clarks Town while Herbert Morrison Technical beat Holland High 2-0 in Montego Bay.

William Knibb Memorial are on 13 points from six games, two more than Herbert Morrison who have played seven games with Spot Valley High (eight games) and Cedric Titus (seven games) both on 10 points.

Oracabessa High continued their surge to the top of the points tables in Zone I after a 2-1 win over York Castle to improve to 19 points and are on the verge of advancing.

Ocho Rios High won for the first time in three starts, hammering Ioan High 7-0 with Marlon Allen scoring five times, to move to 16 points, one behind second placed Browns Town who were held 0-0 by Marcus Garvey High.

The race for the second spot in Zone D is also close after second placed Petersfield High and third placed Belmont played out a 0-0 draw and are separated by two points.

Leaders Mannings School increased their margin with a 1-0 win over Grange Hill and are on 25 points, nine more than Petersfield’s 16 with Belmont on 14.
