Game action from Rusea's and Green Island High

Rusea’s High got their title defence of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup off to a bright start with a 4-0 thrashing of Green Island High in their Zone B game played at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday.

Kenroy Campbell, Cory Matthews, Jhavoy Diaz and Bobby Brown scored for the champions, beating them for the first time in two seasons after drawing both games last year and also getting the better of them for the second time in an opening game.

After three goals in the first half, it looked like a double digits score was on the cards but fatigue and Green Island’s goalkeeper Dave Fearon got the better of Rusea’s in the second half as they managed just one more goal.

Campbell gave the 11 time champions the lead in the 22nd minute, Matthews made it 2-0 in the 34th before Diaz added a third three minutes later but they had to wait until the 76th minute for the fourth goal from Brown.

Tevin Cheese scored the season’s first hat trick as he led last year’s semi-finalists Dinthill Technical to a big 4-0 win over Bog Walk High in Zone K.

Oshane Jackson, Roy Thomas and Tyreke Grayson all scored two goals each as Port Antonio blanked Horace Clarke High 8-0 in their Zone L game.

Seventeen goals were scored in the three Zone L games as Fair Prospect outscored Annotto Bay 5-2 and Titchfield beat Happy Grove 2-0.
