STETHS in prayer before their Semi-Final game against Lennon

Defending champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will face 11 times champions Cornwall College in next Saturday’s final of the ISSA/Flow daCosta Cup schoolboys’ football competition after a 2-1 win over Ben Francis Knock out champions Lennon High in Saturday’s semi-finals at Manchester High.

STETHS’ win went some way to avenge their loss in the Ben Francis KO finals just a week earlier an ensured there will be no ISSA/Flow Rural Area double champions.

Tajae Palmer and Nicholas Gayle scored for STETHS who will be contesting their fifth straight daCosta Cup finals while Ray Campbell had levelled for Lennon High just before half time.

Cornwall College booked their spot in their second final of the season after beating Clarendon College 2-1 in their semi-finals at STETHS on Friday.

In Saturday’s game that saw the second half played in steadily increasing rain, goalkeeper errors led to two of the goals, one for each team.

Palmer gave STETHS the lead after 32 minutes after Lennon’s goalkeeper Tyrone Mullings pushed a shot into his path and he obliged by kicking it back past the custodian into the goal.

Defender Ray Campbell pulled his team level in the 43rd minute when his shot from distance beat STETHS’s goalkeeper Lenroy Wallace.

With two minutes to go Nicholas Gayle scored the winner for the champions when he beat Mullings from close range.
