(Photo: Paul Reid) FROME, Westmoreland — Former champions Garvey Maceo High will travel to Frome Sports Complex this afternoon to face Mannings School in a Group A game, starting at 3:00, as the quarter-finals of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition gets underway.

The top eight teams, winners of their respective Inter-zone groups, have advanced to the quarter-finals that will continue tomorrow with three games.

Mannings, who only advanced to the Inter-zone round after out-of-contention Godfrey Stewart High scored their only win of the season by beating Petersfield High, who needed only a draw to advance, made the best of their second chance by wining two games to top Zone One with seven points.

The Aaron Lawrence-coached Mannings opened the Inter-zone round with a 3-0 win over last year's champions, Rusea's High, and set the tone for the rest of the series, drawing 0-0 with Cornwall College, then beating William Knibb, 4-0.

Garvey Maceo, the 2007 winners, had an almost similar passage from Zone Seven, drawing 0-0 with Paul Bogle before beating Maggoty, 4-0, and Tacius Golding, 5-0, to easily top their group.

Tomorrow, Ben Francis Knock-Out champions St Elizabeth Technical will host Cedric Titus in Santa Cruz, Frome Technical and Manchester High meet at Frome, while Glenmuir and Bog Walk will face-off at Brancourt.
