CAMBRIDGE, St James — Two-time defending champions Rusea's High were held to a shock 0-0 scoreline by unfancied Cambridge High in their ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup Zone B game in Cambridge yesterday, as the first round of the competition came to a close.

The result saw Rusea's ending a 16-game win streak that dated back to the final Zone B game in the 2010 season that the 10-time champions failed to win a game at this stage or to score a goal.

Despite the result, Rusea's are still leaders in Zone B with 13 points, one more than Frome Technical, who edged Green Island 1-0.

One other school that went into yesterday's games with an unbeaten run, Port Antonio High, were beaten 0-3 by Happy Grove in Zone L, while Ben Francis KO champions St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) and Spalding High both extended their perfect starts to five consecutive wins.

Port Antonio's win streak was snapped as Happy Grove beat them for the first time since the 2005 season, ending a run of 13 games where they failed to get the better of Port Antonio.

STETHS clipped Black River 1-0 as the losers have now failed to win in three starts, while Spalding blanked Alston High 4-0 with goals from Andre Morrison, Kenneth Gallimore, Andrew Mathews and an own goal.

Herbert Morrison scored their first win of the season with a 3-0 win over Merlene Ottey, thanks to a double from Dane Hines, while Munro College rebounded from their loss to STETHS on Saturday to edge Maggotty High 1-0, as Shawnavan DeSouza scored his fifth goal of the season.

Spot Valley High extended their lead in Zone C after Oshane Forbes scored both goals in their 2-0 win over Holland High, while William Knibb moved past Muschett High into second place after beating them 2-1 in Wakefield.

Manchester High resumed the lead in Zone F with a 2-0 win over Mile Gully to improve to 10 points, two more than Bellefield High, who had completed their first round earlier.

Kemps Hill took over the lead in Zone N after blanking Central High 4-0 to move to eight points, one more than the losers, while Vere Technical edged Tacius Golding High 1-0 for their first win of the season, thanks to a first half goal from Damion Anderson.

Paul Bogle High and Seaforth stayed on top of Zone O with 11 points each after comfortable wins.

Jahim Duncan scored a hat-trick and Alvas Powell got a brace as Paul Bogle hammered Robert Lightbourne 8-0, the second time this season they were scoring that many goals in a game.

Seaforth were 4-0 winners over Morant Bay High, as St Thomas Technical stayed in third place following their 2-1 win over Yallahs.
