MONTEGO BAY, St James — Four former champions made winning starts yesterday in the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup schoolboys' football competition.

Frome Technical, Dinthill Technical, Munro College, and Glenmuir High were all winners, while Bustamante High scored their first ever win in the rural area high school competition.

Frome Technical beat Cambridge High 3-1 to take over the lead in Zone B on goals scored with goals from Tevin Williams, Richard Hudson and Jermaine Clarke. Green Island also joined Frome and defending champions Rusea's on three points after edging Merlene Ottey High 1-0 through a goal from Akeem Williams.

Shawnavan daSouza scored twice for Munro College in their 4-0 win over Balaclava in Zone E as Andrew Edwards started his stint as the Munro College coach after leaving neighbours St Elizabeth Technical at the end of last season.

Dinthill were 5-0 winners over McGrath High in Zone K, while Glenmuir were 3-0 winners over Porus with two goals from Newton Henry and one from Dwayne Johnson.

Bustamante High, who were returning to the competition after several years away and earned just one point from 10 games last year, edged new comers Foga Road High 1-0.
