KC lifts Champions Cup

Kingston College became the first school to win the ISSA Champions Cup KO twice after beating Clarendon College 1-0 in the final played at the National Stadium on Saturday to end their season on a high, despite missing a penalty.

Three days after losing to Jamaica College in the semi-finals of the Manning Cup at the same venue, Kingston College rose to the occasion by outplaying a tentative looking Clarendon College.

Kingston College added to the title they won two years ago, this one coming under similar circumstances after they had lost in the semi-finals of the Manning Cup.

It was Clarendon College’s first loss of the season as they now turn their attention to defending the DaCosta Cup title against Dinthill Technical next weekend in Montego Bay, Ronaldo Robinson scored for KC in the 63rd minute beating goalkeeper Prince Daniel Smith with a high arcing shot into the far top right corner of the goal.

Earlier Michael Allen’s penalty kick was saved by Smith who had given up the kick after compounding an error by dragging down a KC striker who had a clear run at the unprotected goal.
